How we coach.

Cheam Sports FC is not the biggest club in Surrey, and we do not claim to be a pathway to the Premier League. What we are is a club where coaches stay, players get developed, and parents know exactly what they are getting. This is what that looks like in practice.

Continuity

Coaches who stay

Grassroots football is full of churn. Coaches come and go, squads get rebuilt every season, and players have to start from scratch with someone new. That is not how we run Cheam Sports FC. Our coaches stay with a squad for years, not months. Players build a relationship with the same adults over time, and that is where real development happens.

Development first

Every player, every session

We play in the Surrey Youth League because competitive football matters — but development always leads. Sessions are planned to build technique, game understanding, and decision-making. Every player gets touches, every player gets minutes, and every player gets feedback. We are not running a trophy factory; we are developing footballers.

Honest feedback

No mystery after a trial

After every trial session, we give parents honest, direct feedback within a few days. If your child is a fit for the squad, we will say so. If they are not quite ready or the chemistry is not right, we will say that too — and we will tell you what we saw. You are never left wondering.

Home ground

One ground, one community

We play and train around Cheam, with Peaches Close at the heart of the club. Parents know where to go, players know the pitches, and match days have a home. A real home ground is a small thing that makes everything else easier.

Open door

Trial without commitment

There is no fee for a trial. There is no obligation to sign up. There is no invitation-only gate. Fill in the form, come to a session, and see if the club is right for your child. If it is, welcome. If it is not, we will help you find somewhere that is.

Our commitments to you

These are the things every family at the club can count on — not nice-to-haves, but the baseline of how we operate.

  • DBS-checked, FA-qualified coaches for every squad
  • A minimum amount of match time for every committed player
  • Feedback after every trial, in writing or on the phone
  • Transparent subs with no hidden extras
  • A named welfare officer you can contact directly
  • Match reports and fixtures published on the club website

Ready to see a session?

The best way to understand how we coach is to come and watch. Book a trial with one of our squads and spend an hour on the sideline.
